The basic training of Speelom concerning the standards is a piece where the emphasis is on understanding what is included in the EN1176 standard series but even more so how to apply these “rules” correctly. Too often it is assumed that someone who can quote the standards perfectly is competent to apply the standards. Nothing could be further from the truth. The how and why of these “rules” is even more important to make a correct assessment in relation to the safety in playground equipment.
